A Lack Of Colour

Escape, originally uploaded by Mary-Alice.

'If you feel discouraged
That there's a lack of color here
Please don't worry lover
It's really bursting at the seems
Absorbing everything
The spectrum's a to z'

Something interesting popped up thanks to Sagan's Cosmos yesterday, if you think of the light shining through a prism, when it splits white light into the rainbow, our visible spectrum.
Does this mean that beyond what our eyes comprehend as these colours, other animals see more?
Like I know that some birds can see more shades of colour than us, but to think that we've evolved to see this amount of waves and nothing more, what would our world be like if we could see everything?
Maybe I wasn't paying attention.
In fact it's quite likely that I wasn't.

Anyway, It reminds me of Huxley on acid (yes that's right), he was obsessed with every crease and every minute difference in shade, texture and colour.

"I looked down at the leaves and discovered a cavernous intricacy of the most delicate green lights and shadows, pulsing with indecipherable mystery."

I dunno, I guess I just feel like I'm missing out.

Also today, I was thinking about the heart after listening to it beat, I want to know why love is assigned as a matter of the heart, is it because of a racing heartbeat or some other reason?

I remember reading a study on reports of heart transplant patients gaining memories of their doner, and the only way that it was possible, was if the heart had some kind of cognition or memory?
Even if it's total balls it's poetic nonetheless.

Thoughts.

Hmm.
