Disinterest.

Disinterest., originally uploaded by Mary-Alice.

This image suggests society to me.
The sledge and the phone indicate to me looking backwards and forwards, all the while we miss out on the now.
Everyone is standing with cameras trying to preserve the moment without experiencing it, as we do for so many situations.
But I'm just treading over worn ground here, I would like to think something new, but there are a lot of things that I want and I can't have.

The way I think about myself is echoed in the passage from The Idiot, where Dostoevsky talks of people who are intelligent, but have no original thought.
They say ignorance is bliss, but being brilliant is a gift.
So what happens to the inbetween? The people who know but have nothing more?
I guess in a world of averages, not everyone can stand out, not everyone can be brilliant.

It sure would be nice if it were me though.
